About enterprise
Active Power, Inc.
The ingenuity behind Active Power products and solutions initially derived from the design of magnetic bearings in the early 1990s. From there, the company designed and manufactured a flywheel direct current (DC) system which simply replaced conventional battery energy storage typically used with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). When the company introduced to market the first integrated flywheel based UPS system, customer interest around the world took notice.
Leveraging the inherent benefits of the patented flywheel UPS system, Active Power introduced to market in 2007 a complete continuous critical infrastructure solution. This move would eventually help transition the niche UPS supplier into a continuous infrastructure solutions provider, enabling its customers around the world to save money and reduce their environmental impact on the planet, but never at the sacrifice of reliability.
Active Power understands the continuous critical infrastructure market and its industry pain points and leverages its patented technologies and core capabilities to directly address these issues. With thousands of flywheels in more than 40 countries and field runtime in excess of 100 million hours, it makes sense why more global innovators who demand 100 percent uptime turn to Active Power for ingenious infrastructure solutions to protect their most mission critical operations.
